Stainless Steel That Looks Right and Lasts Longer
SS steel works covers every application where stainless steel is fabricated, welded, polished, and installed, from a single handrail on a villa staircase to a full commercial kitchen fit-out for a hotel in Dubai, to pool railings and bollards for a hospitality project in Abu Dhabi.
In the UAE, stainless steel is the material of choice wherever you need hygiene, corrosion resistance, and a clean, modern finish all at once. Plain mild steel rusts. Aluminium lacks the strength and weight for structural railings. Chrome-plated fittings peel. Stainless steel — properly specified and properly welded — does none of these things. It handles Ajman’s salt coastal air, the UAE’s intense UV exposure, pool chlorine, commercial kitchen steam, and coastal humidity without a single application of paint, coating, or retreatment.
At Blackgold, we fabricate SS works in our Ajman workshop using certified grade 304 and 316 material. Every weld is TIG-welded for a clean, low-contamination joint. Every visible surface is finished to the specification you select — brushed satin, mirror polish, or hairline — with consistent grain direction and no cross-scratches. What gets installed on your site looks exactly as polished as what came out of our workshop
Stainless steel handrails for internal and external staircases, balconies, mezzanine levels, and walkways. Round tube or square profile in brushed satin or mirror polish finish. Wall-mounted bracket systems, post-and-rail systems, and glass-infill balustrade configurations. Widely installed in Ajman villas, apartment buildings, and commercial offices across Sharjah and Dubai.
Best for — villas, apartments, offices, mezzanines, public buildings
Marine-grade SS 316 pool entry railings, pool ladders, and pool-edge balustrades. Chlorine and salt-water resistance is the reason 316 is mandatory for pool applications — 304 will show corrosion in a pool environment within 2 to 3 years. Our pool SS works are standard in villas, hotel pools, and recreational facilities across Ajman, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi. Brushed satin finish to match modern pool environments.
Best for — residential pools, hotel pools, water features
Custom stainless steel kitchen fabrication for restaurants, hotels, cloud kitchens, catering facilities, school canteens, and industrial food processing in Ajman and across the UAE. Work surfaces, prep tables, wall cladding, shelving systems, sinks, grease traps, exhaust canopies, and full kitchen fit-outs. Food-grade 304 material throughout. Smooth weld joints with no crevices that trap bacteria — the standard requirement for UAE municipal food safety compliance.
Best for — restaurants, hotels, canteens, food factories
Stainless steel cladding panels for building facades, column wraps, lift interiors, lobby walls, and decorative feature walls. Hairline (HL), brushed, embossed, or mirror-polished sheets cut and fixed to create a premium architectural finish. Common in Ajman and Sharjah commercial fit-outs, hotel lobbies in Dubai, and high-spec villa entrance works. Available in standard silver, or PVD-coated colour finishes including gold, bronze, and black.
Best for — lobbies, facades, lift interiors, column cladding
Stainless steel bollards for vehicle traffic management, pedestrian zone separation, building perimeter protection, and decorative entrance features. Hollow tube or solid core in fixed, removable, or fold-down configurations. 316 grade recommended for all outdoor UAE locations given salt-air exposure. Polished or satin finish. Widely installed at commercial entrances, retail centres, hotels, and parking areas in Ajman, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
Best for commercial entrances, parking, hotels, retail centres
Stainless steel structural frames for illuminated signs, building identification lettering, and branded entrance signage. Mirror and hairline finish SS sheets cut for decorative letter panels, logo mounts, and sign cabinet structures. Common in commercial buildings and industrial facilities in Ajman Free Zone, Sharjah's business districts, and retail developments across Dubai. Durable, maintenance-free, and visually sharp.
Best for commercial signage, office entrance, retail branding
Custom fabricated stainless steel gates, door frames, security grilles, and access hatches. Solid or tubular frame construction with glass infill options for modern aesthetics. Particularly popular for commercial and industrial facility main entrances in Ajman's Al Jurf area and Sharjah's industrial zones, where standard painted mild steel gates corrode rapidly in the coastal environment. Full powder-coat and brushed finish options.
Best for — industrial sites, commercial entrances, coastal properties
Structural stainless steel post systems with tempered glass infill panels — the premium balustrade choice for modern villas, high-rise balconies, and commercial staircases. SS 316 spigot-mounted frameless glass systems for a clean, open look. Wall-channel mounted systems for narrower installations. Combines structural strength of stainless steel with the unobstructed sightline of frameless glass. Widely specified in new Dubai villa developments and Sharjah commercial fit-outs.
Best for villa balconies, high-rise, modern staircases
Bespoke stainless steel fabrication for anything that does not fit a standard category. Gratings, drainage channels, ablution fixtures, manhole frames, storage racks, equipment frames, tank supports, water features, and industrial components. If it requires precise cutting, forming, and TIG welding of stainless steel, our Ajman workshop handles it. We work from drawings, sketches, or site measurements with a full fabrication capability from 1mm sheet to 10mm plate.
Best for — industrial, hospitality, infrastructure, bespoke projects
SS 304 vs SS 316 — Which One Does Your Project Need?
This is the most common question we get. Most clients do not know the difference until something corrodes. Here is the plain explanation — and why it matters for UAE projects specifically.
Standard Grade · 18% Chromium, 8% Nickel
SS 304 is the most widely used stainless steel grade globally. It contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel, which gives it strong general corrosion resistance in most environments. It is easy to weld, readily available, and priced lower than 316.
For UAE SS works, 304 is the correct specification for indoor applications, sheltered exterior locations, and any installation more than 1km from the coast. Commercial kitchens, interior handrails, office cladding, indoor signage frames, and sheltered villa balustrades — all fine in 304.
Marine Grade · 16% Chromium, 10% Nickel, 2% Molybdenum
SS 316 adds 2% molybdenum to the 304 composition. That single addition significantly increases resistance to chloride corrosion — the specific type of corrosion that salt air and pool water produce. In Ajman and Sharjah’s coastal environment, chloride levels in the air are measurably higher than inland locations.
For UAE SS works, 316 is the mandatory specification for swimming pools, any coastal or sea-facing installation, marine environments, and all exposed external applications within 5km of the coast. Using 304 in these situations will produce visible rust staining within 2 to 4 years — exactly the situation we see when clients call us to replace SS works installed by contractors who used 304 where 316 was required.
SS Finish Options Available from Blackgold
Directional brushed grain. The most popular finish for handrails, kitchen equipment, and commercial SS works in the UAE. Hides fingerprints well and suits modern interiors and exteriors equally.
Highly reflective, near-mirror surface. Used for decorative cladding panels, lift interiors, signage features, and premium architectural SS details where maximum visual impact is the brief.
Long continuous grain lines running the length of the sheet. Common in architectural cladding, facade panels, and decorative screening. Finer than brushed satin, more subtle than mirror. Popular in Sharjah and Dubai commercial fit-outs.
Standard cold-rolled surface as received from the mill. Used for industrial SS works, structural components, and applications where the surface is not the primary concern — gratings, support frames, internal structural members.
The Only Metal That Handles Everything the UAE Throws at It
In the UAE’s specific environment — coastal salt air, 45°C+ summer heat, intense UV radiation, humidity above 80% in summer months, and sand-laden winds — most metals fail within 5 to 10 years without continuous maintenance. Mild steel rusts. Painted surfaces peel. Aluminium lacks structural density for load-bearing railings. Chrome plating blisters in salt air.
Stainless steel handles all of these conditions because of the chromium oxide passive layer that forms on the surface automatically. This microscopic layer is self-repairing — if the surface is scratched, the chromium reacts with oxygen in the air to reform the protective layer within hours. No paint, coating, or re-treatment is needed. Ever.
The result is a material that looks identical after 20 years of UAE coastal exposure to how it looked on installation day — with nothing more than an occasional clean. For property owners, hotel operators, and facility managers across Ajman, Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi, that zero-maintenance performance is the primary reason stainless steel is specified over any alternative.
SS 316 in Ajman's coastal environment shows zero corrosion for 25+ years. The molybdenum addition specifically protects against chloride attack from sea air.
Stainless steel maintains its structural and surface properties across the UAE's full temperature range — from 0°C winter nights to 55°C+ direct summer sun. No warping, no deformation.
Non-porous surface prevents bacterial colonisation. This is why all commercial kitchen regulations in the UAE specify stainless steel for food contact surfaces.
A brushed or polished SS surface does not fade, peel, or discolour over time. No repainting, no touch-ups, no maintenance cycles — just a clean wipe when needed.
Higher tensile strength than aluminium allows thinner tube sections on handrails and balustrades while meeting UAE loading requirements — a cleaner, less bulky look with no structural compromise.
SS handrails, pool railings, and cladding are visible quality signals in the UAE property market. They photograph better, last longer, and upgrade the perceived value of any residential or commercial space.
SS Steel Works in Ajman — Fabricated Here, Installed Across UAE
Blackgold’s fabrication workshop is in Al Jurf Industrial Area, Ajman. All stainless steel cutting, forming, TIG welding, grinding, and polishing happen in our Ajman facility before delivery and installation. Ajman clients benefit from the shortest turnaround time and most direct service of any emirate — our teams are on site faster, delivery is cheaper, and any adjustments or follow-up visits cost less because we are 10 to 20 minutes from most Ajman projects.
In Ajman, our SS works are active across both residential and commercial sectors. Villa owners in Al Rawda, Al Nuaimiyah, and Al Rashidiyah regularly commission SS handrails for renovated staircases and balcony balustrades to replace old painted mild steel systems that have corroded. Commercial clients in Ajman Free Zone, Al Jurf, and Hamidiyah specify our SS works for industrial kitchen equipment, safety handrails, and structural access platforms.
Ajman Corniche properties consistently require SS 316 marine-grade specifications for all external works, given their direct sea-facing exposure. We specify 316 on all Corniche and coastal-area projects without being asked — because we know the local environment well enough that it is the only responsible specification.
SS Steel Works in Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain & Fujairah
Our SS fabrication work runs consistently across all target emirates. Sharjah accounts for a large volume of our SS works — commercial kitchen fit-outs in Sharjah’s hospitality sector, handrail and balustrade installations in Muwaileh and Al Nahda residential developments, and industrial SS structures in Sajaa and Hamriyah. Response times to Sharjah are near-identical to those in Ajman, given our workshop location.
Dubai SS projects run through villa communities in Mirdif and Al Barsha for handrail and pool railing work, hotel and restaurant SS kitchen fabrication in Al Quoz, and architectural SS cladding for commercial fit-outs in Business Bay and Jumeirah. Abu Dhabi SS works concentrate on hospitality kitchen equipment in the hotel corridor, SS structural work in Mussafah’s industrial facilities, and coastal villa SS works in Khalifa City. Al Ain and Fujairah are covered for larger or specialist SS projects where our specific fabrication capability is needed.

Why Cheap SS Work in the UAE Looks Good for 18 Months
The most common SS works failure we see in Ajman and Sharjah is a stainless steel handrail or pool railing that has developed orange rust staining. When clients point to this as a material failure, they are often correct — but not in the way they think. The material is technically stainless steel, but it is either the wrong grade (304 used where 316 is required), incorrectly welded, or fabricated from an unverified market sheet with no mill certificate to confirm the actual chromium content.
Budget SS fabricators in the UAE often use 201-grade material — a lower-cost stainless alloy with reduced nickel content. It looks identical to 304 on delivery, polishes the same way, and appears fine for the first year or two. In a UAE coastal environment, reduced corrosion resistance becomes evident as rust staining within 18 to 36 months. By then, the contractor is unreachable.
At Blackgold, we use certified mill-test-report material for all SS work. When we specify 304, we supply 304. When we specify 316, we supply 316. The difference in material cost is not large — typically 15 to 25% more for 316 over 304 — but the difference in 20-year performance is significant. We provide the material certificate on request for any project.
TIG Welding vs MIG Welding for SS Works
All visible stainless steel joints in handrails, cladding, kitchen equipment, and architectural SS works should be TIG-welded. TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding uses a non-consumable electrode and produces a clean, low-spatter, narrow weld bead with minimal heat-affected zone. On stainless steel specifically, minimising the heat-affected zone is critical because excessive heat causes sensitisation — a process that depletes chromium at the grain boundaries and creates a band of reduced corrosion resistance along the weld line. This is where rust starts on poorly welded SS works.
MIG welding is faster and cheaper but produces a wider, higher-spatter weld that requires more grinding and finishing — and creates a larger heat-affected zone. On structural SS components that are not visible, MIG is acceptable. On anything that will be seen, touched, or cleaned — handrails, kitchen surfaces, cladding — TIG welding is the correct process. All Blackgold visible SS welds are TIG-welded and passivated after welding to restore the chromium oxide passive layer at the weld joint.
SS Kitchen Works and UAE Food Safety Compliance
Commercial kitchen SS fabrication in the UAE is subject to Dubai Municipality, Ajman Municipality, and ADDC food establishment guidelines, all of which specify stainless steel for food contact surfaces. The requirements go beyond just using SS material — the joints must be smooth and continuous with no crevices where food particles accumulate, the surface finish must be fine enough to allow effective cleaning (typically No.4 brushed or finer), and all drainage channels must have an appropriate fall. Our commercial kitchen SS fabrication is designed and built to these standards as part of our standard process — not as an additional service charged separately.
How to Measure for SS Handrails and Railings
For residential SS handrail projects in Ajman and Sharjah, clients often ask whether they need to measure before calling us. The short answer is no — our site survey team takes all measurements during the free visit. What helps us quote more accurately before the survey is the number of flights (separate stair sections), whether the installation is wall-mounted or free-standing post, the approximate linear metres of railing, and whether there are any turns, corners, or landings that require custom bends.
The site survey confirms every dimension precisely and identifies any substrate conditions — concrete, tile, marble, or timber — that affect the fixing method. Fixings into marble and tile, common in UAE villas, require a different core drill bit and fixing system than standard concrete fixings. Our team brings the right equipment for whichever substrate is present, rather than discovering the issue on installation day.

SS 304 is the standard stainless steel grade — excellent corrosion resistance in most environments and suitable for indoor and sheltered outdoor applications. SS 316 contains molybdenum, which provides significantly superior resistance to chloride corrosion from salt air and pool water. For Ajman’s coastal environment and any swimming pool application, 316 is the correct specification. Using 304 in these conditions will produce rust staining within 2 to 4 years. We specify and supply the correct grade for your project’s location and environment.
Properly specified and installed stainless steel lasts 20 to 30+ years in the UAE. SS 316 in coastal Ajman conditions performs without visible corrosion for 25+ years with basic periodic cleaning. SS 304 in indoor or sheltered environments has an indefinite service life. The key factors are correct grade specification for the environment, proper TIG welding with post-weld passivation, and using certified material rather than unverified market sheet.
Stainless steel is highly corrosion-resistant but not completely rust-proof under all conditions. Rust on SS works in the UAE is almost always caused by one of three things — wrong grade (304 used in a coastal or pool environment where 316 is needed), poor welding technique that depletes chromium at the weld joint, or unverified material that contains less chromium than specified. We see this frequently when clients call us to replace corroded SS works installed by low-cost contractors using 201-grade material sold as 304.
Brushed satin (No.4) is the most practical and most popular finish for villa handrails in Ajman and across the UAE. It hides fingerprints and minor scratches better than mirror polish, suits both modern and traditional villa interiors, and is easier to maintain. Mirror polish is chosen when a high-gloss decorative effect is the priority — commonly for feature cladding panels and lift interiors rather than functional handrails.
Yes. Our workshop is in Ajman but we fabricate and install SS works across all six target emirates. Sharjah projects operate at near-identical cost and timeline to Ajman given the proximity. Dubai and Abu Dhabi site surveys are scheduled within 48 hours. Al Ain and Fujairah projects are covered for larger or specialist SS works. No subcontracting regardless of location — our own team surveys, fabricates, and installs every job.
SS handrail installation in Ajman starts from around AED 280 per linear metre for a standard wall-mounted round-tube system in SS 304 brushed finish. SS 316 adds approximately 15 to 20% to the material cost. Glass balustrade systems start from AED 650 per metre. These are starting figures — the exact price depends on profile diameter, number of posts, fixing substrate, and finish. We confirm the final price in a written quote after the free site survey.
Fabrication in our Ajman workshop typically takes 5 to 10 working days from quote approval depending on complexity and material availability. Installation time on site depends on the scope — a standard villa staircase handrail takes 4 to 8 hours. A full commercial kitchen fit-out may take 3 to 5 days. We give you a confirmed fabrication and installation schedule when you approve the quote.
